Victorian-era chromolithographed advertising trade card promoting Gabel & Frisby’s “Neptune” brand of coffee, spices, baking powder, and French mustard, Cleveland, Ohio.
Features a beautifully detailed illustration of two birds perched atop a peacock feather—an especially decorative and uncommon motif for grocery advertising of the period. Printed circa the 1880s, during the height of Victorian trade card production.
Card measures approximately 5½–6 inches wide. Condition is good to very good with light corner wear, a small crease at the lower right, and gentle age toning. Colors remain attractive and the card displays very well.
A strong example of 19th-century American food advertising, ideal for collectors of Victorian ephemera, Ohio history, or early grocery trade cards.
