Rare Antique German Bisque Doll Kammer & Reinhardt K*R 55 Black African American 21"

Rare and highly sought-after antique German bisque head character/child doll by Kämmer & Reinhardt (K&R), circa 1895–1915. Deeply and cleanly incised on the back of the bisque head with the iconic "K [Star / &] R" mark, along with size mold number "55" at the lower neck rim (indicating a large doll approximately 21–22 inches tall). The doll itself features a flawless rich brown complexion bisque socket head, feathered brows, pierced ears, brown glass sleep eyes, painted lips, and open mouth showing molded upper teeth. Finished with a thick black mohair/hair wig. The body is a fully jointed composition and wood toddler/child body with original matching dark factory finish, and is dressed in an elaborate multi-piece pale yellow and cream pleated dress featuring a lace-trimmed collar, cuffs, and is accented with a large pastel yellow satin sash and rear bow. Includes a matching ruffled lace bonnet, double-strand bead necklace with a glass pendant, dark ribbed stockings, and period shoes with smooth soles. Excellent antique condition. Bisque head has been checked and is clean, smooth, and free of visible cracks, hairlines, chips, or restorations. Jointed body retains solid posture and paint finish. Outfitting is crisp, intact, and displays exquisitely.
