Mother Jones, Battle of Blair Mountain, Pot with Lid

This piece of pottery illustrates the very important story of Mother Jones and the West Virginia coal wars and the Battle of Blair Mountain, the largest armed uprising in the United States since the Civil War. It involved an estimated 10,000 coal miners clashing with 3,000 armed lawmen and strikebreakers in West Virginia during a labor dispute in 1921.
