Laurel True Original Smalti Mosaic Art "San Vitale Bird" Ravenna Italy 2000 18x14

An original 18x14 fine art mosaic plaque by acclaimed artist Laurel True. Created at Studio Arte del Mosaico in Ravenna, Italy, this mosaic depicts a stylized bird amidst a swirling background. Inspired by the 6th-century Byzantine mosaics of Ravenna’s Basilica of San Vitale, this piece is rendered in rich cobalt, gold, ochre, white, and violet hand-cut Italian glass smalti, and framed with a wooden frame painted yellow and purple. Overall very good condition. The mosaic artwork and smalti tesserae are completely intact, tight, and secure. The integrated wood frame has a small paint chip along the top edge. Original studio provenance label attached on the reverse.
