In the Vieux Carre - Poems By Louise Butler About the French Quarter
This is a rare 16 page booklet of poetry about the Vieux Carre (The French Quarter) in New Orleans, Louisiana, by Louise Butler. LSU has a special collection of her papers but I have not been able to find another copy of this booklet even in their collection.
Louise Butler (1892-1950) was the granddaughter of Judge Thomas Butler (1785-1847) and Ann
Ellis Butler. The Butlers were cotton and sugar planters in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, and
lived near St. Francisville at "The Cottage." Louise Butler wrote poems, short stories, and
historical sketches of West Feliciana Parish.
There is no publishing date but it was likely created between 1920 and 1940. It's in very good condition for it's age. The center spread has detached.
