This is an exceptional, authentic 19th-century West African ceremonial bell (Omo or Omo-Osun) crafted by the Yoruba peoples of the Ijebu Kingdom in present-day Nigeria.
This conical hand-cast brass bell features a striking, stylized human face modeled in high relief. Traditionally worn over the shoulder or around the neck by high-ranking Ijebu chiefs and members of the prestigious Ogboni (Osugbo) society, these bells served as sacred symbols of status, ancestral authority, and spiritual protection.
