Offered here is an original 1870 pamphlet titled Extracts from the Journal of Capt. Francis Goelet, Merchant, Relating to Boston, Salem, Marblehead, Etc., 1746–1750, with notes by Albert H. Hoyt.
Printed in Boston by David Clapp & Son, this scarce publication reprints Goelet’s first-hand travel journal from mid-18th century New England. Goelet’s writings provide vivid observations of colonial life, architecture, and social customs in Boston, Salem, and surrounding towns between 1746–1750.

This edition was reprinted (with additions) from the New England Historical and Genealogical Register for June 1870, making it one of the earliest standalone printings of this important colonial account.
