The Hidden South King Pin Art Competition — 2026
(“Contest”)

Contest Type:
This is a skill-based visual art competition. Chance plays no role in selecting the winner. This contest is not a raffle, lottery, sweepstakes, or game of chance.

1. Eligibility

  • Open to individuals 18 years or older.

  • Artists may enter individually only. No teams.

  • Sponsor reserves the right to approve or deny any entry.

2. Entry Fee & Materials

  • Each artist must pay a $20 non-refundable entry fee to participate.

  • Upon payment, the artist receives one vintage bowling pin to use as the base for their artwork.

  • Entry fees are pooled and awarded entirely as the cash prize to the first-place winner.

  • No purchase other than the entry fee is required to enter.

3. Artist Responsibilities

  • Artists must transform the bowling pin into an original artwork using any medium or technique.

  • Artwork must remain structurally recognizable as a bowling pin.

  • Offensive content may be refused display at Sponsor’s discretion.

  • Completed artwork must be delivered to Sponsor by February 26, 2026.

  • Failure to submit artwork by the deadline forfeits entry, and entry fee will not be refunded.

4. Exhibition

  • All completed bowling-pin artworks will be displayed at The Hidden South on February 28th (“Exhibition”).

  • The exhibition is open to the public.

  • Each guest who enters the Exhibition receives one (1) voting ticket.

5. Judging & Winner Selection

  • Winner is determined solely by public voting during the Exhibition.

  • Each attendee receives one ticket and may vote for one artwork by depositing their ticket into the designated ballot box.

  • Sponsor will count all votes at the end of the Exhibition.

  • The artwork receiving the most votes is the Winner.

  • In the event of a tie, Sponsor will conduct a tie-breaker vote limited to tied artists, voted on by a panel of three (3) judges selected by Sponsor.

  • Judging is based on artistic creativity, originality, craftsmanship, and overall impact.

Disclosure: Because this is a skill-based competition with judging criteria, and the winner is chosen on the basis of artistic merit and public evaluation, this contest is not considered chance-based under Louisiana law.

6. Prize

  • Total prize amount equals the sum of all entry fees:
    $20 × number of participants = Prize Pool

  • Maximum prize with 21 entrants: $420.

  • Winner receives:

    • The full cash prize

    • The honorary title “The Hidden South King Pin 2026”

    • A feature on Sponsor’s website and social media

  • The prize has no substitutions and is not transferable.

  • All taxes, if any, are the responsibility of the Winner.

7. Sale of Artwork

  • All artworks must be offered for sale during the Exhibition.

  • Sale price will be determined jointly by the artist and Sponsor.

  • Revenue split: 50% to Artist / 50% to The Hidden South.

  • Sponsor retains the right to display unsold works for up to 30 days after the Exhibition.

8. Use of Images & Promotion

By entering, Artist grants Sponsor the non-exclusive right to photograph, film, and display images of the artwork and the artist for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, print, webpage, and news outlets.

9. Liability

Artists are responsible for securing their artwork adequately. Sponsor is not liable for theft, loss, or damage, though reasonable care will be taken.

10. Agreement to Rules

Participation in the Contest constitutes:

  • Agreement to these Official Rules

  • Acceptance of judging and vote-counting decisions

  • Permission for Sponsor to use artist’s name, likeness, and artwork imagery for promotional purposes

11. Compliance Disclosure (Louisiana Law)

This competition is structured as a skill-based art contest and does not involve a random drawing, raffle ticket sales, gambling, or chance-based methods.
The entry fee is for participation and materials only and does not provide a chance-based opportunity to win a prize.
Prize value and contest terms are fully disclosed herein in accordance with La. R.S. § 51:1721.
